between (technological) artifacts and music:
reverse engineering io 0.0.1 beta
Once upon a time there was the dream. The dream that, through the use of
electronics and computers, musicians (and composers) could be freed from the shackles of
embodiment and fashion.
The dream became desire, and the desire was made artifact.
In the cold daylight, however, these artifacts did not make the musically impossible
effortless, nor deliver us from our bodies.
If the desire was misguided, and the dream was (science) fiction, through the reverse
engineering of an archeological technological artifact, I will ask: What can it be? What
is the relationship between the technological artifact and music?
